In General Training Task 1, structure your letter into clear paragraphs:
- Salutation: Start with a proper greeting (formal or informal, depending on the situation).
- Opening Paragraph: Introduce the reason for your letter.
- Body Paragraphs: Use separate paragraphs to address each bullet point in the task. For example, if the task asks you to explain a problem, request action, and suggest an alternative, devote one paragraph to each.
- Closing Paragraph: End with a suitable conclusion and sign-off.
Example:
Salutation: “Dear Sir/Madam,”
Opening Paragraph: “I am writing to inform you of a problem I encountered during my recent stay at your hotel.”
Body Paragraph 1: “The issue I faced was that the air conditioning in my room was not functioning properly.”
Body Paragraph 2: “I would like to request a room change for my upcoming stay, as I found the experience uncomfortable.”
Closing Paragraph: “I look forward to your response. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Yours sincerely, [Your Name].”
