While it is important to use a variety of cohesive devices, too many linking words can disrupt the natural flow of your writing. Use them when necessary but avoid starting every sentence with a connector.
Example of Overuse:
“First of all, I would like to inform you that I ordered the laptop last week. Secondly, I would like to say that it arrived late. Also, it was damaged.”
Improved Example:
“I ordered the laptop last week, but it arrived late and damaged. Could you please arrange for a replacement or refund?”
