Describe a hobby you used to have but stopped doing.
You should say:
- What the hobby was
- How long you had it
- Why you stopped doing it
- And explain if you would like to restart it in the future.
One hobby I used to have was playing the guitar. I started learning when I was around fifteen years old, and I played consistently for about five years. At first, it was just a fun activity to pass the time, but over the years, it turned into a real passion. I took lessons, learned various chords, and even started writing my own songs. I enjoyed playing both popular songs and original pieces, often performing for friends and family during gatherings.
However, I eventually stopped playing guitar when I went to college. My schedule became increasingly busy with classes, studying, and other commitments, leaving little time for practice. I also moved into a smaller apartment where it was less practical to play an instrument without disturbing neighbors. As a result, the guitar sat in its case, gathering dust for several years. Although I tried to pick it up occasionally, I never fully returned to my routine of regular practice and playing.
Looking back, I do miss the creative outlet that guitar playing provided. It was a wonderful way to express my feelings and unwind after a long day. I often think about the joy I experienced while playing and the sense of accomplishment I felt when mastering a new song or technique.
I would love to restart playing the guitar in the future. Recently, I’ve felt a renewed interest in music, and I believe that picking up the guitar again would be a great way to reconnect with that passion. I’m considering taking lessons again or finding an online course to refresh my skills. Additionally, I think it would be a valuable way to relieve stress and enhance my creativity, something I’ve found lacking in my current routine. Overall, while life circumstances led me to put the guitar aside, I hope to embrace it once more and enjoy the music that comes with it.
