I am currently taking a pottery class as a hobby, and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I decided to enroll in this course primarily to explore my creative side and to learn a new skill. For a long time, I’ve admired handmade pottery, and the idea of shaping clay into functional art intrigued me. I wanted to experience the satisfaction of crafting something tangible with my hands, so when I saw an advertisement for a local pottery course, I jumped at the opportunity.

So far, I have learned various techniques, including hand-building, wheel throwing, and glazing. In the beginning, we started with hand-building methods, where I learned to create simple shapes and forms using coils and slabs. As we progressed, I was introduced to the pottery wheel, which was both exciting and challenging. It took a few sessions to get the hang of centering the clay, but the feeling of creating a vessel from a lump of clay was exhilarating. Additionally, I’ve gained knowledge about different types of clay and glazes, and how to properly fire pieces in a kiln.

I find this class not only enhances my artistic skills but also serves as a form of therapy. The process of working with clay is incredibly meditative, allowing me to focus entirely on the task at hand and momentarily escape from daily stresses. I enjoy the community atmosphere in the studio, where fellow classmates share tips, encouragement, and feedback, fostering a supportive environment.

As for continuing the class, I feel very enthusiastic about it. Each session brings new challenges and discoveries, and I am eager to further refine my skills. I plan to continue exploring pottery, not only because of the joy it brings me but also because I see the potential to develop my creativity in other artistic endeavors. The more I learn, the more inspired I feel to experiment with different techniques and create unique pieces that reflect my personal style. Overall, this pottery class has become a significant and fulfilling part of my life, and I look forward to continuing this journey.
