A compound sentence is made up of two or more independent clauses joined by a coordinating conjunction (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so), a semicolon, or a conjunctive adverb (however, therefore, moreover, etc.). Each independent clause can stand alone as a complete sentence, but they are linked to show a relationship between the ideas.
