The main purpose of Section 2 is to evaluate your ability to:

• Follow extended speech without the aid of interaction (i.e., there is no second speaker to clarify points or ask questions).
• Understand both the main ideas and specific details in a relatively long monologue.
• Identify the speaker’s purpose and intention (e.g., giving instructions, providing a description, or announcing changes).
• Recognize how the speaker organizes information logically and uses transitions to move from one point to the next.

This section is also designed to test your ability to process larger chunks of information at once, as the speaker may present multiple ideas, steps, or details in quick succession.
